SOLD - Boothroyd Stuart Meridian 101MC/103D amplifier
This is a highly desirable Boothroyd Stuart Meridian amplifier package from 1980 that sounds wonderful and looks absolutely stunning. I'm a big fan of these units.
This item is slightly more unusual that the three-piece set-ups you typically see. In addition to the standard 101MC pre-amplifier, 103 power supply unit and 103.5 power amplifier, this set-up has two 103.5 power amplifiers and was referred to as a 101MC/103D set-up. It is not quite the same as a mono block set-up (which Boothroyd Stuart also offered as the 105) as the speaker outputs remain with the power supply unit, but it is an upgrade that requires a split DIN lead to the two power amps from the power supply.
All necessary leads will be supplied with the unit, including ones for a tape deck and for a CD player (a din to phono adaptor, allowing conventional phono cable use).
Please note that this high end version of the pre amplifier has a moving coil phono stage.
The finish on the units is not black, but more of a dark brown/copper finish and I've tried to show that as accurately as possible in the pictures. Condition of the front panels is generally very good. Condition of the main body panels is also very acceptable on most of the units, with the pre-amp being most marked, with some small paint chips. Located underneath the two power amps, the units look very clean indeed.
I have played this item for many hours and it really sounds terrific. Indeed, I'm very tempted to keep it for myself, but there's only so much kit one can have (and have space for!).
